This blog is my summary and thoughts on Doug Lemov's "Teach Like a Champion: 49 Techniques that Put Students on the Path to College." Although I am not a K-12 teacher, I am finding this book to be very interesting and applicable to teaching at the college level. Introduction to Chapter 7, "Building Character and Trust"
The techniques in this chapter focus on getting your message across in the most effective way possible. The words you choose and the tone of your voice make all difference.
I am an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Calvin College. I want to be a top-notch teacher. It is going to take a few years, I expect, to get there.
